er your right...laughing isnt going to help riku so heres what i suggest for a little of riku's background
well i always think of Riku as a rich kid :P and in the game he didn't like being trapped on the island... so I'm thinking that he wouldn't really want to take on his Father's buisness and do what he wants to do when he grows up

How about Riku is into some dark stuff like a goth? He doesn't have to be a hardcore goth to like dark stuff or anything. I really into dark stuff and I'm not a goth. Maybe he can play baseball? Or football? Dang, I don't have anything yet. I'm only making suggestions. I don't got many ideas for Riku right now. Sorry. ):
