Well barely alive, since my last journal I ended up going back to school and that has kept me way too busy >,<
Originally I thought this one person was going to take over the project and get it moving again (so I wasn't overly concerned) but she hasn't been active on her account since. So I'm assuming she's not going to help out (not that I'm mad or anything xD it's all cool ).

I think I've said this before, but I really like this project to continue. It's not canceled or dead as long as a group of people are willing to keep it going.

I set up a club for the project so those who really want to see this game made and combine their skills to make it happen. I need some very dedicated people to join the club and help manage it and keep it going. Granted that you guys still want to make this happen






If you want to help out with guiding the project please comment/message me about it. I'm still in the middle of my classes and a very life consuming portfolio class so I might not get back to comments for awhile. But I'm not giving up on this project, so I WILL get back to you guys (just don't be surprised if it takes weeks for me to respond, my life is crazy right now).

has been taking things the reigns so I'm letting her be one of the heads for the new account She'll be helping to get this thing going. But of course we'll need more heads than just her, that way this will get done and get done faster.

So if you're interested in being a head please comment. If you know others who might want to be a head, please talk to them about what's going on.

If you didn't read the previous journal, the heads will just be responsible for keeping the project going, organized, and updating the club page. You might pick just one area to be responsible for like art, writing, programming. You'll likely have jobs like reviewing submitted work, commenting/sending notes, taking in people's suggestions, and making sure everything in your area is being taken care of (like the backgrounds, character art is being taken care of).

Heads will oversee events like contests and edit events according to people's suggestion.

Basically you heads are managers ^_^ who'll be working with each other to get the project done. And of course if you have an issues, you can contact me.




Everyone else can work on content,

Writing/Editing for the events
Drawing/color/creating art for the game
Programming/putting all the elements into the game engine
Or whatever is needed for the game.

You're just responsible for creating stuff for the game.

--Continuing--
A lot of you guys have given some very awesome ideas and suggestions for continuing the project and between all the comments I think there's a very good solution. A special thank you to because she really had most of this idea planed out XD

The idea is that we open a "op-kh-ds club" an open project to work on this dating sim. I might elect some dedicated "heads" for the club to keep some order and direction for the club as a while and the different areas (art, writing, programming). But whenever someone can't be a head anymore, someone else can take their place this way people can be dedicated when they can, for as long as they can, but the project still goes on.

As far as content is concern: art, writing, programming, everyone else can pitch in. The heads will help assign jobs, check quality, and make sure all the needs are met. For art we might hold a contest for artwork and everyone gets to vote. For writing the heads can post it as a Deviation (like I have done in the past) and everyone can give suggestions, critique, or help complete an event ^_^

Instead of using flash (which not everyone has or can program in) I really think Renpy www.renpy.org/wiki/renpy/Why_R… would be better. It looks very easy and simple to use (even for non-programmers). It's already set up to make dating sims, it really couldn't be easier as far as programming! But if anyone really got into it, it is possible to program very complex things. But also multiple people could work on different parts of the programming so it'll get done faster!

I'll keep this account going, and act as producer for OP-KH-DS (which just means I don't make the game, I just give some direction). I will also give you guys all the notes and events I have and post them online. If you guys have any problems you can come to me about it All I ask is to keep the game teen friendly (so lots of people can enjoy it) and don't turn it into a yaoi game XD let the game be about the romance between the player and the guy ^_^

Taking out flash as the programing will help a LOT with the process (since you won't depend on me to program everything and enter all the dialogue). But I think the project will still need some dedicated people to help manage it. A game is a very big, complex thing. I think as long as we have one or more dedicated persons, the project can go on.

If in the event, Square-Enix has an issue with OP-KH-DS, that's it. It'll be over. And all the content will have to come down. If you're alright with losing all that work, than feel free to continue.

I've been dreading to say this, but I've put if off long enough. I'm sorry for the long leave and I thank everyone who's been so supportive and patient.

Since I graduated I've been busy with doing art for work and I've been doing a lot of thinking about my life and what I want to do with it. But also, there are some concerns about this game that have come up.

I would like to at least put together the beginning portion of the game for everyone to play. But after that, I cannot continue the project. If someone else wants to pick up the project and continue it, I'll do my best to give the resources and scripts I have to help continue the game.

Before you get mad, please let me explain, I hope everyone will be understanding.

1.) Copyrights
I have not been concerned about copyright infringements for a free-fan-made games. But it was brought to my attention that Square-Enix has sent "cease and desist" letters to fan-made games of other square-enix games, namely "chrono trigger". Those fan games (big and small) were asked to take down their games and everything involved with those games. I would hate for everyone and myself to put so much work into a game, but no one will be able to enjoy it.

And don't be mad at square-enix, if they put hard work into their games and stories, they have the right to ask others not to take it.


2.) Artwork
Currently all the artist I've asked to do artwork for the game haven't finished the art or very busy with college. So right now, I only have a little artwork for the characters. The artwork at this point would be limited OR old, badly drawn by me, art.


3.) Motivation
I really don't know how to say it, but I've just been uneasy about things. While you guys have been great, and I love making games, I haven't been able to find the motivation to work on this game. I still love the game and want to see it finished. I'm not sure exactly why, and it might be for several reasons, but I really feel I should -- and I want to -- be working on my own original games. Something I can put my whole heart and soul into creating. I don't feel like I can do that with OP-KH-DS.


4.) Money
It's a fact of life, and even though I'd like to make games for free, the reality is I need to become more independent. That's partly why I haven't been around, I've been working. Now my family isn't destitute, I've been very blessed, but things are tight and I want to help out my family by supporting myself more. I don't plan to give up games, in fact I intend on making a game company from flash games that offer myself a job doing what I love and maybe open jobs for others. But that means I have to start dedicating my time to creating original games.


5.) Original Game
The upside is that I've been working on some original game concepts. There is one concept that I'm currently working out the details that hopefully go into production this or next year. How long it'll take before it's playable, I dunno. But since this isn't just something I love, but also to create the foundation of a company, it'll be something that I can dedicate more time to and will have to stay on top of.

It's not exactly a dating sim. But It's an adventure game with many lovely guys who are spirits that you form pacts with. There are main story lines, but depending on what you do will alter the story some. You'll be able to choose from a set of characters to play as, but there may be a feature to customize the character's appearance. There's more to it, but that's all I want to reveal at the moment

Please don't beg me to finish the OP-KH-DS. I know you all want me to and I wish I could fulfill that want. But I've done what I can and now I have to move on, and that might not be so bad if it leads to bigger and better things.

While you might not be able to take over the flash game file, there are other game engines out there. and I have been talking about doing writing groups. That is to say, have a few people responsible for the writing of 1 character.

For example, there would be Sora's writing group. There would be a few leaders (perhaps 2) who would be responsible for making sure Sora stays in character, the events make sense and flow, and the overall quality of the writing. But of course others can come in and write events, make suggestions, give ideas, even edit the events for Sora. The leaders are just responsible to make sure the writing is good and gets done.

The idea is to help keep the writing consistent for each character. I think it would also focus everyone's talents better.

I might wait for till the next update to decide on groups. A new update might bring in more help


So how dose that sound? Any suggestions? We might hold a contest to help decide who the leaders should be ^_^
